Determining Financial Need
Your EFC and your Cost of Attendance determine your financial need.
To calculate your financial need:
Cost of Attendance - EFC = Financial Need
You must have financial need to receive certain types of federal student aid, such as subsidized loans and Federal-Work study.
For more information on financial need and need-based aid, check out How Aid Is Calculated.
Create your FSA ID
Your FSA ID is the username and password you create to complete, sign and access your FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Parents of dependent students will need to create their own FSA ID so they can sign the parent portion of the FAFSA.
IMPORTANT: Do not forget your FSA IS or your FSA ID password. We cannot reset or recover them for you.
Ensure you're admitted to PC before beginning this process.
- New students must submit a Student Admission Application.
- Continuing students should update their address and phone number on my.maricopa.edu

You may need to submit additional documentation after the submission of your FAFSA. If anything is needed, we will post it on your To Do List. All items listed on your To Do List must be submitted by the complete file date. Applications received after the complete file date will still be considered for aid, but you may not be awarded aid until after the start of the semester.
Students who complete the FAFSA and submit all requested follow-up paperwork after the complete file date should be prepared to use their own funds to pay their tuition and fees prior to the payment deadline. Students can set up a payment plan and should be prepared to make all payments while their financial aid application is being processed.
