Phi Beta Lambda Business Club at State Leadership Competition Trophies From State Leadership Competition

The Phi Beta Lambda Business Club, led by professor Doug Northway, went to the State Leadership Competition at Embry Riddle in Prescott on the 12th-13th of April. To make it to the State Leadership Competition, students first have to compete in both the Fall and Winter Leadership Competitions which then qualifies them for the State Leadership Competition.

By Saturday evening’s award ceremony, at the State Leadership Competition, Phoenix College’s Phi Beta Lambda Business Club had won more awards and trophies than any other school competing. They beat out many schools including ASU, NAU, DeVry and several others. The only school that won more awards was Embry Riddle, with over 30 participants on their team vs. Phoenix College’s seven total members.

With the two days spent on the Embry Riddle campus, the Phi Beta Lambda Business Club brought home seven first place trophies, five second place awards, six third place awards, first place for “Outstanding Chapter,” two “Outstanding Gold Membership Awards” -one going to Lucero Vargas and the other to Chiao Chen Wang, and even brought home a first place for “Best Chapter Yearly Scrapbook.”

The following are the categories in which the team competed and placed:

  • Accounting Principles

  • Management Concepts

  • Marketing Concepts

  • Personal Finance

  • Business Communication

  • Business Decision Making

  • Human Resource Management

  • Future Business Executive

  • Forensic Accounting

  • Sales Presentation

  • Business sustainability

  • Best Chapter Scrapbook

  • PBL Outstanding Chapter

Because of the Phi Beta Lambda Business Club’s success at State, they now qualify to compete in the National Leadership Competition from June 24th-27th, in San Antonio, Texas.
