Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society

Phi Theta Kappa (ptk.org) is the only scholastic honor society recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges. Phi Theta Kappa recognizes and encourages scholarship, the development of leadership and service, and cultivates fellowship among students at Phoenix College and colleges throughout Arizona and the United States.  See below for information about the Rho Pi Chapter membership — or for additional information about the national Phi Theta Kappa honor society, visit the official website at PTK.org.

What are the benefits of membership?

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society will open new doors for your academic journey. The organization offers a myriad of opportunities for scholarships, intellectual enrichment, and personal development through programs based on Phi Theta Kappa’s four hallmarks of:

  1.  Scholarship
  2.  Leadership
  3.  Service
  4.  Fellowship

As a member, your academic excellence will be recognized with the Golden Key Membership Pin, membership certificate and identification card, notation of membership on your diploma and transcripts and the privilege of wearing regalia at graduation that sets you apart as a Phi Theta Kappa member.

What are the membership requirements?  To be eligible for membership you must have completed 12 hours of coursework leading to a degree and have a GPA of 3.35 or higher.

How do I become a member? The only way to join is online. If you meet the requirements you will receive an invitation with a passcode. Simply go to the PTK.org website and click on "Log in" and then click on "Accept membership". You will use the pass-code you received from your invitation this current semester. It's a one-time fee of $80 for a lifetime membership.

What is required to maintain membership: After induction, members must simply maintain a GPA of 3.0 to remain an active member.

Is participation a requirement? Active participation in the chapter is not a requirement. There are no service activities required to maintain membership benefits. However, you will certainly want to consider the benefits of being an active member which include opportunities to increase your leadership skills, participate in service projects, as well as a myriad of fellowship and scholarship opportunities.
