Britt's Bears
Introducing Britt's Bears: A New Program for Student Success
As a former foster youth, Phoenix College President Dr. Kimberly Britt is driven to help students escape poverty, to defy the statistics, and to overcome hurdles students see for themselves and the ones that their experiences place on them.
The new Britt’s BEARS (Brave, Extraordinary And Resilient Students) Program provides support for foster youth and other at-risk student populations. In addition to coaching and mentoring, Britt’s BEARS provides social and cultural experiences for students with peers and coaches.
The connections made during these experiences build a sense of belonging, which studies show is critical to student success. Britt’s BEaRS programming consists of annual activities such as a welcome reception, fall, winter and spring cultural activities, special convocations and completion celebrations.
