PC alumnus Kevvin Taylor is part of the producing team of the Broadway-bound Hippest Trip – The Soul Train Musical. Yes, the iconic Soul Train TV show is going to Broadway!
While he was studying at Phoenix College, with the plan to transfer to Arizona State University, Taylor studied business. “PC provided a toolbox of academic excellence, thus giving me the confidence to pursue my secondary education. I wanted to go far, but be close to home. PC provided a place where I could learn in a home-like environment,” Taylor remembers.
PC theatre professor Dr. Larry Soller opened the world of theater to Kevvin. In fact, at one point, both Dr. Soller and Kevvin were represented by the same talent agency. “After my time at PC, Dr. Camilla Westenberg (Professor Emeritus and NAACP/BSU advisor) kept me connected to PC and inspired me to serve my community,” he adds.
Kevvin loved the encouragement he received at PC. Majoring in arts management at ASU and then attaining his first job in arts administration, Kevvin says PC served as the launchpad for his dreams. “I was able to visualize how my passion for theatre could translate into a successful profession.” Read more about Kevvin’s PC experience.
Taylor continues leveraging the instruction he received at PC and ASU, and now he’s headed to Broadway.
