Arizona Teachers Academy Scholarship
Dual Enrollment teachers in the academic disciplines at Maricopa Community Colleges must have a master’s degree in the content area or a master’s degree in any area with 18 credit hours of graduate-level courses in the area they plan to teach. The Arizona Teachers Academy tuition scholarship is a great way to pay for those credits while pursuing your qualification. The scholarship funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis through:
Graduate courses taken for Dual Enrollment eligibility can also be seamlessly applied to a future Master of Arts in Education if you decide to pursue that route.
How Does the Scholarship Work?
- To be considered for the Arizona Teachers Academy scholarship, apply to an Arizona public university.
- Apply for financial aid through the FAFSA program.
- The Arizona Teachers Academy program varies at each participating university. Be sure to agree to your program's teaching service obligations.
- Complete your degree or certificate.
- Teach in an Arizona public school for every year you received funding to fulfill your service obligation.

Minimum Requirements
Here are the minimum requirements to become a Dual Enrollment teacher in academic and occupational courses at Maricopa Community Colleges:
Option A
Master’s degree in the discipline to be taught.
Option B
Master’s degree in any area with 18 graduate credits in the discipline to be taught.
Alternative Minimum Requirements for Teaching Occupational Courses
For occupational courses, one of the following or a combination of the following must be met:
- Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught
- Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a bachelor’s degree
- A master’s degree with 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the field to be taught
- A master’s degree in the teaching field
- A master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field
- A master’s degree in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field
- A journeyman certification in the field to be taught
