Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Jessica Guzman. I have been teaching since 2006. I am originally from Michigan. I have a Master’s Degree in TESOL from Grand Canyon University. I teach primary school full-time and am an adjunct professor for Phoenix College in the evening. I love to teach and connect with students.
What do you like most about teaching ESL students?
ESL students are eager to learn and very respectful. I love how they are ambitious and willing to work hard to achieve their goals!
What would your ESL students say about you?
My ESL students would say I am understanding and very helpful.
What is your most memorable teaching experience?
My most memorable teaching experience was when I taught my first writing course. Many students had a bad feeling about writing. But by the end of the term, they had gained so much vocabulary and were very surprised by their growth. It is a great joy to see the end results for students at the end of the semester.
What advice would you give to ESL students or to someone thinking about taking an ESL class?
My advice would be to take the plunge. Take a course and by the end of the semester, you will see how much you are capable of accomplishing! I am sure you will be craving more courses.
